Barred Owl
I was walking a popular nature trail boardwalk when I noticed this Barred Owl perched a few feet off the trail. The sun was very low and it sat on a low perch in the shadows. It was frustrating to have the cooperative bird in such close proximity but no light or decent angles to work with - but It was equally thrilling to have the close encounter.For one moment, the owl leaned forward and the sunlight illuminated its face and eyes and I took the picture. It then leaned back into the shadows and I put my camera down to just enjoy the moment.
